5 Independent Wallet Brands that I Love

In Hong Kong where there is no shortage of luxury goods, it is surprising difficult to find a brand thats speaks of quality and class. Here are some of my favourite brands which I have discovered in the past and I hope you love them as much as I do.

1. Isaac Reina

Isaac was born in 1968 in Barcelona where he studied architecture before switching to fashion. In 1991, after finishing his degree, he started working for Antonio Miro on the men’s collection. In the late nineties, his curiosity and quest for quality took him to Paris. Isaac Reina joined Hermès in 1998 at the men’s ready-to-wear studio directed by Véronique Nichanian. He worked on the entire male wardrobe at the exception of accessories.

2. Yuhaku

There is something undoubtedly Japanese about Yuhaku. I came across this brand as I was on holiday in Osaka and famously spent 2 hours in 3 different department stores just to decide whether I want the tan or the green colour one. Some of the styles they have I do feel it is a bit dated but if you look carefully you will definitely find some exquisite pieces with the most beautiful dye pattern. I particularly love the 2 tone collection.

3. Steve Mono

STEVE MONO is a contemporary Spanish brand founded in 2007 on the idea of reinterpreting classic sandals, shoes, bags, and other small leather goods for a modern lifestyle.

Influenced by Spanish culture, travels, art, utility, and an appreciation for the old, we continue to focus on designing essential items for everyday and every journey.

4. Makr

MAKR is a design studio and product manufacturer founded by Jason Gregory in 2007. The studio works across a wide range of scales and disciplines, from soft goods and leather accessories, to product design, furniture, and interior architecture. Taking an industrial approach to craft, Makr began simply with a goal to create long-lasting designs with carefully considered details and construction techniques. By this process, products are continually refined over time—rather than in response to a market calendar or set schedule—and introduced as they reach a level of quality and utility. One of our favourite store Kapok also stocks them occasionally so its worth checking it out.

5. Common Project

Founded in 2004, Common Projects are renowned for their timeless, minimalist aesthetic; with clean designs realised using only the finest leathers and expert Italian craftsmanship, their footwear and accessories remain wardrobe staples season upon season. One of our favourite store Kapok also stocks them occasionally so its worth checking it out.

*Everything that is listed on this website are of my personal opinion and no forms of contribution from the mentioned companies were ever made.
